There are many research studies on the effects of digital technologies, particularly social media, on mental health. Still, there are not many places where people can find trustworthy, practical guidance on promoting healthy digital habits for today’s youth.
This library was created to make it easier to find credible, accessible resources on youth digital well-being in one place, without having to sort through endless search results, conflicting advice, or content that is not grounded in evidence. For more information about how we found, organized, and evaluated these resources, please read below.
Who is this library for?
- Teens seeking guidance and support
- Parents and caregivers seeking practical tools and language for discussing digital habits with their children
- Educators seeking advice regarding their students
- Healthcare providers seeking resources for their patients

How did we compile this library?
Our team conducted a broad search for reputable resources on key topics about digital technology and youth mental health. We also searched from the perspective of real stakeholders, such as what parents, teens, educators or healthcare providers might type into a search engine when looking for help. Our search included a variety of topic areas related to youth digital mental health that serves the needs of our target audeince(s) and also reflects the most current research.
How did we evaluate the items in this library?
These articles and tools were reviewed independently by at least two TYDE personnel using standardized decision criteria. Resources can be sorted by:
- Audience (parents & caregivers, teens, educators, healthcare providers, tech companies)
- Most recent
- Includes youth voice (TYDE’s youth perspective)
- Actionable (offering clear, concrete steps)
- Most research-based (aligned with current research)
- Overall Rating (the average score of all above criteria)
Resources will be reevaluated periodically to keep the library updated with the most recent, accurate information.
