CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – In an op-ed about parents and their child’s technology UVA Assistant Professor of Psychology, Stefanie Sequeira is advising parents to sit down with their children and learn about their online experiences.
Sequeira also suggests parents have reasonable expectations.
“It’s okay that you didn’t have the same experiences, it’s okay that you might not know exactly how your child is using technology or what they’re experiencing, but it’s okay to ask them,” she said.
It is also important that parents understand each child’s solution may look different and to consider not only what children are involved in while online, but what they’re missing out on too.
