Ava Arvand is a TYDE research assistant and member of the 2026 graduating class.
Ava is a behavioral neuroscience major and a Middle Eastern and Asian languages and cultures minor. She is a member of PACT Lab and Kucenas Lab. Her research interests include the role of glial cells in the psychopathology of mental disorders during early development and developing dynamic, practical, and accessible treatments for anxiety disorders.
She was also a participant and member of the planning team for the TYDE Youth Hackathon 2025 and 2026.
She loves her job in residential mental health and has previous research experience in social psychology and cognitive neuroscience. After completing her undergraduate studies, Ava hopes to pursue a PhD in clinical psychology and work with Farsi-speaking populations.
In her free time, Ava likes to read old and new psychology textbooks, do special effects/creative makeup, write creatively in Farsi and English, and cook Persian food.
