Sharing data can accelerate biomedical research by promoting data re-use for novel research questions and improving scientific rigor and reproducibility. Yet, effective data stewardship and ensuring privacy protections for participants can present a range of practical challenges to busy researchers. Katharine Daniel (Department of Psychiatry & Neurobehavioral Sciences, Center for Behavioral Health and Technology) will talk through strategies for gaining informed consent, de-identifying complex data sources, determining whether to designate data for controlled access, and selecting the right data repository based on project considerations.
