Phaeton Gallery and the UVA Thriving Youth in the Digital Environment (TYDE) initiative are proud to present True Colors: Exploring Youth Mental Health and Digital Technology.
This thought-provoking art exhibit showcases student artwork that delves into the intersection of youth mental health and the digital world, and provides a powerful platform for young artists to express their experiences.
True Colors includes work by local 7th-10th graders from local Albemarle county schools. The exhibit includes a range of mediums and styles, and the pieces are remarkably profound. Local teen interns are also supporting the exhibit as curators to cultivate the gallery experience.
The exhibit is a collaboration between the Thriving Youth in a Digital Environment (TYDE) and Phaeton Gallery. TYDE is committed to growing expertise and building infrastructure to support cutting edge research about both the impact of digital technology on healthy youth development and its potential to support intervention and prevention solutions.
The True Colors exhibit is not only a chance for students to showcase their work, but also an invitation for the community to engage in these critical discussions. At the gallery, there will be interactive components, moments for reflection, and community resources.
The gallery encourages families, educators, and community members to attend the opening reception on Friday, June 6 from 5:30-7:30 to support the students and explore the art that will be on display. Light refreshments will be provided.
